Dubai Desert.

When some people think of Dubai, they usually picture the luxurious cars, the only 7-star hotel in the world (Burj Al Arab), and just an abundant amount of ways the rich display their oil money spending habits. But there is more to Dubai than just the lavishly luxurious display of wealth. Dubai has done a wonderful job of showcasing the luxury as well as the culturally rich history of its people. For that reason, it is also on the list of the top 3 countries I have traveled to so far. Although I have only spent a few nights in this luxurious state, I was able to experience and take in enough of its beauty. Yes, there are the skyscrapers and fancy cars, but there was also the part where it restored its culture. I loved the mixture of luxury and culture at the same time.

Per usual, I make a list of activities and excursions that before I travel to any destination. Visiting the Dubai desert was on the top of my list. Born and raised in Sudan, this moment at the sand dunes of Dubai brought back so many precious memories. Pure Sahara love. But the number one reason why I wanted to really visit Dubai was to check off a bucket list item: Skydiving! Skydiving of the palm desert of Dubai has been on my list for some years, and I promised myself that once I can afford to make this dream turn into a reality that I would not waste the opportunity.

Sunrises and sunsets are nothing short of breathtaking.

To skydive in Dubai, you need to make reservation with Skydive Dubai way in advance. I was able to do so by visiting their website weeks before my departure date. The earlier you acquire about making this reservation the better chances you will be able to secure the date the suits your travel dates best. There is a deposit fee (999AED) required upon making the reservation online, and you will need to pay the remaining cost (1000AED) on the day of your jump. They accepted payment in Cash, Debit Cards, and Visa & MasterCard. In total I paid 1999 AED, that is around $545 in total! Not a cheap experience, but it was worth every penny for me.

Walking the neighborhood of Old Dubai and witnessing firsthand the restored ancient set up in this area gave me the traditional vibe of Dubai that I was looking for.

I used Uber and taxi throughout my visit to Dubai, and I used my credit card for the most part. Shout out to my Alaska Airlines credit card for not charging me foreign transaction fees. Their app is also very efficient and easy to use. You are the real MVP!

Share some of your favorite spots in Dubai with me so I can check them out next time please.
